The "house with blue shutters"

This is another old stone house, with lots of character. It is at the very top of the village of Saint Victor la Coste, among several other houses below the village castle. It looks out onto a square shaded by chestnut trees, and beyond onto the vineyard-covered plain.

The interior, entirely restored and rebuilt in 2000-2001, is new and clean. Walls are plastered, floors tiled; electrical installation and plumbing are entirely modern. There is newly-installed central heating. The house is pleasantly furnished, and well lit.

Living room

All of the living space of the house is on the second and third levels. Like many traditional stone houses in southern France, the first level is vaulted, and used as a cellar.

The living room is a very pleasant space. Square in shape, it is tiled and has a very nice old beamed ceiling. There is a round table, several chairs, and a comfortable couch that can pull out into a bed if needed. There is a radio-cassette-cd player, and many maps and guidebooks of the region.

Kitchen and dining room

The fully equipped kitchen has a gas stove with burners and oven and a large electric refrigerator. A tiled counter and table offer space to prepare meals. There is an electric coffee-maker, and of course dishes, pots and pans.

A large circular table sits in the center of the dining area, and a pretty cupboard holds dishes and offers space to stock foodstuff (photo below).
 

Bedrooms

There are two bedrooms on the upper level of the house, which is reached via a stairway from the kitchen/dining room.

Both bedrooms are large and comfortable, and well lit. Both have twin beds, ample furniture space to store clothes, and nice curtains on the windows.

Sheets, blankets, and towels are provided.

Bath

On a small hall between the two bedrooms is the modern fully tiled bathroom. There is a tub, sink, (hot water from a large electric hot water heater), and small armoire for towels, etc.

In typical French fashion, there is a separate toilet.

The house has very effective central heating, with adjustable radiators in the bedrooms.

In the vaulted cellar on street level, there is a washer and dryer.

There is space in front of the house to park a car.

The house is equipped with a high-speed internet connection and wifi.

The connection offers free and unlimited telephone calls to any country in the European Union and to USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The house also has a PC with English language keyboard.
